Heavy industry places tough demands on the reliability and lifetime of the installed components. Experience shows that mechanical cam limit switches, which are still used in many industrial plants for position monitoring do not meet all requirements in regards to safety, accuracy and ease of use.

For example, these mechanical devices often exhibit low switching accuracy and user-unfriendly handling during the adjustment of switching points. This inefficiency disrupts the smooth industrial process, causing stoppages and longer downtimes due to the extra time and effort required to achieve precise positioning.

The electronic position switches (limit switches) ERC 40 make it possible to flexibly monitor position ranges. For example, the position switches are deployed in hoisting gear, in crane technology and in mining operations as well as in screw downs and side guides in steel works. The electronic position switches are often used as a simple 1:1 replacement solution in legacy systems where mechanical cam switches are installed. Moreover, the electronic limit switches can also be integrated in new systems without any difficulty. The position switches ensure high accuracy and facilitate fast and easy system calibration by means of presets, by setting switching points as well as uncomplicated data storage.
