Training as an industrial mechanic

For more than 30 years, we have been training various technical and commercial professions in our company. The goal is always to build up and sustainably strengthen our team. In September 2022, sixteen-year-old Finn began his training with us as an industrial mechanic and now reports on his first experiences in a short interview.

Why did you ultimately choose FLOHR as your training company?

In the end, I chose Flohr as my training company because I did a one-day practical training here before. I was able to get to know the company, the daily routine in assembly and the friendly employees.

What do you expect from your training?

My personal training expectations are that I will do well in the exams and that I will be a fully trained industrial mechanic after the 3.5 years.

What interests and talents should one have for the industrial mechanic profession?

For training as an industrial mechanic, you should like working with metal, have a talent for craftsmanship and be motivated.

How does the school work? Do you have block lessons or do you go to school every week?

At the vocational school we have alternating A and B weeks. There are two days of school in the A week and one day in the B week. Our class consists of a total of thirty students, whereby toolmakers and machinists are also taught in the first year. In the second year of the training, the group is divided according to the different apprenticeship occupations.

You have now completed your first months of training. What is your first impression?

My impression of the job is that I can't wait to work with my colleagues in the assembly department.
