Extreme temperatures, dust, dirt and vibrations: Encoders for heavy industries have to withstand a lot. The new MAG Ex bearingless magnetic encoder systems from our partner Johannes Hübner GmbH based in Giessen, Germany are now even more versatile. This is because they are ATEX certified and can therefore also be used in applications with explosion hazards.
Extremely resilient and
explosion-proof
For a long time, the bearingless MAGincremental magnetic encoders from Johannes Hübner in Giessen have been proving their qualities for
applications in extreme environmental conditions. Thanks to their compact design,
they show their strengths particularly when used in confined spaces. A new
feature of the MAG Ex Incremental model is its ATEX certification. This extends
the range of applications for these extremely robust, non-contact rotary
encoder systems. MAG Ex is ATEX certified for harsh environments with explosion
hazards. New areas of application for the encoders include oil and gas production,
offshore platforms, pipeline compressor stations and petrochemical plants.
Customized solutions
A wide range of additional options for MAG/MAGA Ex enable
customized encoder integration. This includes, for example, a second scanning
head for the transmission of redundant signals. For additional fiber optic
signal transmission up to 1000 meters, an external transmitter/decoder can be
added to both magnetic encoders.
MAG Ex Incremental and MAGA Ex
Absolute
The explosion-proof encoder systems MAG Ex Incremental
with HTL or TTL output signals is available immediately. For the MAGA Absolute encoder systems with SSI output signals, certification is in preparation. Both MAG Ex
Incremental and MAGA Ex Absolute will receive ATEX certification for Zone 2.
Durable and flexible in use
Both versions of the Ex-certified magnetic encoder systems
are extremely resilient and durable. Thanks to the bearingless design and
contactless scanning, they operate without wear. A special stainless steel band
gives extra protection to the encoders from environmental influences. The
scanning head is seawater-proof (IP68) and therefore also suitable for offshore
applications. MAG Ex Incremental and MAGA Ex Absolute also offer maximum design
freedom. They can be mounted directly on shafts with or without a free shaft
end. The option with split pole wheel is a practical alternative for retrofits
and modernisations.
