The flange couplings of the "FK" and "FKB" series are rigid solutions for connecting two shaft ends. This can be as a complete flange coupling, consisting of 2 flange halves and 2 shrink discs or optionally as a half flange coupling, consisting of one flange half and one shrink disc.
The main function of a rigid flange coupling is the safe and backlash-free connection of two shafts by means of frictional connection. Flange couplings of the "FK" and "FKB" series can be separated directly at the flanges. This simplifies assembly on the respective shaft ends. The shrink discs mounted on the flange halves create a backlash-free connection by pressing the flange hubs onto the shaft ends. Flange couplings are primarily designed to transmit torques. Bending moments as well as axial forces can also be safely transmitted with the flange couplings type "FK" and "FKB".
The shrink discs mounted on the flange couplings only provide the
required forces and do not themselves transmit any forces or torques
between shafts and flange halves. They are therefore not in the flow of
forces.

The rigid flange coupling is installed by sliding the flanges onto
the shaft ends and subsequent tightening of the shrink disc. Thereafter
the flanges are connected
by bolting.
The rigid flange couplings are supplied ready for installation. To achieve proper operation
and
a sufficiently high coefficient of friction, the contact surfaces
between the shaft extensions and flange-hubs, as well as the contact
surfaces of the flanges, must be
free of grease, dry and clean. The
functional surfaces of the shrink disc, threads and head rests of the
screws are provided at the factory with lubricant. The contact surfaces
between the flange-hubs and shrink discs are oiled.
Flange couplings are used, for example, in marine technology, wind power technology, materials handling technology, mixing and process technology, hydropower technology as well as in crushing plants and elevators.
